Gloucestershire Marriage Index

The Gloucestershire Marriage Index contains details of all the marriages that took place in the Gloucester Diocese during the period from 1800 to June 1837. It includes over 60,000 marriages. It does not cover marriages in those parishes in the far south of the county which fall within the Diocese of Bristol.

The compact disc has been produced as a finding aid only and whilst the transcript has been checked, there is always the possibility of error and you are therefore strongly recommended to check any entries in which you are interested against the original register or filmed copies of them.

You can view marriages in alphabetical order of groom’s name or of bride’s name (see sample below). When you are looking for names you can include wildcard characters, and you can ask for names which sound similar.
